Abstract
At the dawn of the new millennium, the international community agreed to initiate an exciting global agenda, known as Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), to address the growing socioeconomic and environmental challenges in a structured and comprehensive manner. After 15 years of MDGs, although the outcomes were not very satisfactory at the global level, many lessons learned paved the way toward an even more ambitious agenda with aspirations for a more equitable and human-centric development: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
