This review summarizes the importance of choline in neuroprotection and long-term disease management, highlighting the complexity of choline metabolism affecting cerebrovascular health through gut microbes. Although choline and its metabolites exhibit a protective effect, excessive intake and increases in some metabolites may confer risk, suggesting the need to carefully balance dietary choline intake.
