Abstract
A catalytic strategy for indirect reductive quenching based on a photoredox and sulfide dual catalysis system has been developed, enabling the synthesis of diverse furan frameworks, including spirofurans and phthalans. Mechanistic studies and DFT calculations revealed the formation of sulfonium species from sulfide radical cations, followed by intramolecular cyclization to construct furan rings.
