Abstract
We aimed to perform a bibliometric review on suicide in South Asia. We conducted a search in Scopus. Articles on suicide published in English language with affiliations of eight South Asian countries between 1991 and the search date were included. The search revealed that the number of articles on suicide has been increased both yearly and decade wise. More than two-thirds of the papers published in India with regional collaborations. SMY Arafat and M Eddleston (n = 83) were the leading authors, the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru has the highest number of research publications (n = 298), the Indian Journal of Forensic Medicine And Toxicology was the leading journal, and the Wellcome Trust was the leading funder across decades after 2000s. This bibilometric analysis revealed that India has the leading role in suicide research, which is commensurate with its higher suicide burden.
