The hundreds ps seed pulse was injected into a laser diode (LD) end-pumped electro-optic (EO) Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser via a partial transmittance plan mirror. During a 20 kHz burst-mode operation, a hundreds ps burst-mode laser with a 19 ns envelope was obtained, delivering a burst energy of up to 0.49 mJ with a sub-pulse width of 741 ps and a sub-pulse interval of <inline-formula> <tex-math>$\\sim \\; 3.2$ </tex-math></inline-formula> ns. The letters journal publishes engineering, applied physics and physics oriented papers. Emphasis is on rapid publication of timely manuscripts. A goal is to provide a focal point of quality engineering-oriented papers in the electro-optics field not found in other rapid-publication journals.
