Abstract

To meet the growing demand for food it is necessary to develop new approaches to pre-sowing seed treatment, including with modern nanotechnology. The paper presents data on the effect of the pre-sowing treatment of rice seeds with nanoparticles of individual trace elements and their compositions. It is found that the pre-sowing treatment of rice seeds with 10–7% of Fe NPs and compositions (B 10–5%, Mo 10–7%, Mn 10–6%, Fe 10–7% NP mixtures) increased the seed germination energy and seed germination by 9.4 and 11.8%, respectively, compared with the control. Fe 10–7% NPs contribute to a three-fold increase in seedling root length and a 110.9% increase in the seed/seedling viability index as compared to the control. The quantitative anatomical parameters of the leaves of rice seedlings show an increase in the area of water-storage tissue by 72.2%, chlorophyll-containing tissue by 22.9%, area of vascular bundles by 66.5%, leaf thickness by 21.9% for the case of the pre-sowing treatment of seeds with nanopreparations with a micronutrient-NP composition compared to the control.
