Abstract

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death worldwide, necessitating a deeper understanding of its complex pathophysiology. Omics technologies-genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics-have revolutionized cardiovascular research, enabling high-throughput analysis of biological systems at multiple molecular levels. These tools are advancing precision medicine by uncovering molecular mechanisms underlying CVD. Traditionally, research followed a top-down approach, analyzing broad cardiovascular subsystems. However, modern high-throughput technologies support a bottom-up approach, examining molecular components first and integrating findings into larger systems. This paradigm shift, powered by big data, is transforming cardiovascular research and paving the way for more precise, personalized treatments.

期刊介绍: The Canadian Journal of Cardiology (CJC) is the official journal of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS). The CJC is a vehicle for the international dissemination of new knowledge in cardiology and cardiovascular science, particularly serving as the major venue for Canadian cardiovascular medicine.
