Abstract

Three new monoterpene indole alkaloids (13) together with eight known alkaloids (411) were isolated from the fruits of Bousigonia mekongensis. Compounds 1 and 2 were the first examples of akuammicine-Aspidosperma type bisindole alkaloids. Their structures were elucidated by NNR spectra, MS data and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra. All compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against HepG2 liver cancer cells in vitro. Compounds 1, 4, 9 and 11 showed antiproliferative activity with IC50 values of 15.74 ± 1.37, 8.55 ± 0.97, 9.23 ± 1.11, and 0.80 ± 0.44 μM, respectively (0.51 ± 0.14 μM for the control, doxorubicin).
