A synthesis of new developments in the field from 2020 to 2024, focussing on self-reported questionnaires, clinical interviews, and ecological momentary assessment, are provided. After exploring novel advances and their interplay with evidence-based validated instruments, we will discuss limitations and future directions. What are we missing? What should be improved and ameliorated?
