A result on quotient of meromorphic functions and its application to L-functions

Abstract
We give an estimate on counting functions of zeros and poles for a class of meromorphic functions, which is shown to be best possible by examples, and then apply it to estimate the symmetric difference of nontrivial zeros and a-points of L-functions in number theory.
