Glans ischaemia after circumcision in a child: a case report with review of the management.

Abstract

We present the case of a 13-year-old boy with glans ischaemia after circumcision who was treated with nitroglycerin spray, spinal block, and prostacyclin analog. The outcome was favourable without any sequelae. Several possible causes of this rare complication are described. Various treatments are reported by other authors. There is evidence that topical, oral and intravenous vasodilators and anti-sympatholytic agents are important for improving vascular flow and oxygenation to the glans penis.
