Abstract

Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) production in Colombia has been primarily dependent on three predominant genotypes for over five decades. However, challenges such as disease susceptibility and low yield and quality underscore the need for increased genetic variability. Yield-stability indexes are essential tools for identifying superior genotypes in Hevea breeding programs. In 1999, a segregating rubber plantation with 3395 trees was established at the Agrosavia El Nus Research Center. Georeferencing, tapping data, and total solids yield were assessed through 10 evaluations per tree. This study aimed to identify high-performing rubber genotypes using an adjusted total solids yield-stability index. Phenotypic values were adjusted to account for microclimate effects and temporal variation. The resulting index, applied through stratified mass selection, provided a closer approximation of genotypic performance. Based on the index, the top 50 and bottom 10 genotypes were identified, offering insights into elite individuals' contributions to total solids production. Notably, genotypes 2a13, 2a317, and 3a89 exhibited higher predicted yield-stability ( p ̂ ${\hat p}$ ) index values, with p ̂ 2 a 13 = 87.03 , p ̂ 2 a 317 = 78.50 , ${\hat p_{2{\mathrm{a}}13}} = 87.03,{\mathrm{\;\;\;}}{\hat p_{2{\mathrm{a}}317}} = 78.50,$ and p ̂ 3 a 89 = 39.79 ${\hat p_{3{\mathrm{a}}89}} = 39.79$ , reflecting superior performance and stability, making them valuable candidates for rubber breeding programs aimed at improving total solids production. Additionally, the index facilitated the identification of genotypes with high phenotypic values but marked production instability, as observed in genotype 3c355 ( p ̂ 3 c 355 = 404.35 ) ${\hat p_{3{\mathrm{c}}355}} = - 404.35)$ .

p²a 13 = 87.03时,P²a 317 = 78.50,${\hat p_{2{\mathrm{a}}13}} = 87.03,{\mathrm{\;\;\;}}{\hat p_{2}{\ mathrm{a}}317}} = 78.50,$和p} 3a 89 = 39.79 ${\hatP_ {3{\ mathm {a}}89}} = 39.79$,反映了优越的性能和稳定性,使它们成为旨在提高总固体产量的橡胶育种计划的有价值的候选物。此外,该指数有助于鉴定出表型值高但产量不稳定的基因型。在基因型3c355中(p∶3c355 = - 404.35) ${\hat p_{3{\ mathm {c}}355}} = -404.35 )$ .

期刊介绍: After critical review and approval by the editorial board, AJ publishes articles reporting research findings in soil–plant relationships; crop science; soil science; biometry; crop, soil, pasture, and range management; crop, forage, and pasture production and utilization; turfgrass; agroclimatology; agronomic models; integrated pest management; integrated agricultural systems; and various aspects of entomology, weed science, animal science, plant pathology, and agricultural economics as applied to production agriculture. Notes are published about apparatus, observations, and experimental techniques. Observations usually are limited to studies and reports of unrepeatable phenomena or other unique circumstances. Review and interpretation papers are also published, subject to standard review. Contributions to the Forum section deal with current agronomic issues and questions in brief, thought-provoking form. Such papers are reviewed by the editor in consultation with the editorial board.
