This review summarizes the recent progress in the Brønsted/Lewis acid or Lewis base-catalyzed halogenation of aromatic compounds using <em>N</em>-halosuccinimides (NXS) over the past six years. Abstract
Halogenation of aromatic compounds is one of the most crucial reactions in modern synthetic chemistry. Aromatic halides are important synthetic intermediates used in metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions, substitution reactions, and the preparation of drugs and natural products. Continuous efforts have been devoted to the synthesis of aryl halides.
