Abstract

No doubt, the country has recently seen significant pushback against efforts to prioritize ethnic and gender diversity and racial equity in the public sphere. Activist shareholders and other stakeholders have launched lawsuits and public assaults on companies, universities and other institutions that have, over the last decade or so, made a conscientious effort to diversity their staff, boards and senior leadership, as well as integrate diversity, equity and inclusiveness in their operations.
