In this work, a numerical contact model with high computational accuracy for profile modified gears is developed. The geometric model of the gears with profile modification was established based on the generating method and the tooth profile modification principle. The tooth profile modification quantity was regarded as a kind of tooth profile manufacturing error, and the tooth profile error in the direction of the line of action was derived. Then, the calculation models of the load sharing factor and the contact pressure of the profile modified gears was established. Finally, the influence of the modified tooth profile parameters on the load sharing factor between teeth and the contact pressure of the tooth surfaces was studied. Abstract

The contact pressure is a key parameter in the anti-wear and anti-contact fatigue design of the profile modified gears.
