Abstract

Objective: Assessment of the quality of life of patients after dental surgeries using kinesiotaping and infrared laser therapy.

Material and methods: The study included 63 patients with symmetrical, equal in volume planned surgical interventions in the oral cavity, who were divided into 3 groups depending on the rehabilitation method: in group 1, patients underwent a course of low-intensity laser therapy, in group 2 - a course of kinesiotaping, and in group 3 - a complex use of low-intensity laser therapy and kinesiotaping. The quality of life of patients after oral surgery was assessed using the OHIP-14 questionnaire before and after rehabilitation measures.

Results: The average preoperative scores in all groups were equal and amounted to 14 points according to OHIP-14 (high quality of life indicator). In group 1, when using a course of laser therapy, the OHIP-14 indicators were: on the 1st day after surgery 20.2±1.48 points, on the 3rd day 18.8±1.75 points, on the 7th day 16.4±0.99 points; in group 2 - 19.96±1.31, 18.6±1.53, 16.3±1.01 points, respectively; in group 3 - 19.42±0.94, 18.1±1.47, 15.9±0.73 points, respectively. On the 14th day, the indicators in all groups were equal to the preoperative ones.

Conclusion: The complex use of laser therapy and kinesiotaping most significantly improves the quality of life of patients after oral surgery.
