Abstract

In a new study, deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the lateral hypothalamus facilitated recovery after spinal cord injury (SCI) in rodents and humans. The researchers identified glutamatergic neurons in the lateral hypothalamus as a therapeutic target from a brain atlas of neurons involved in recovery of walking.
