Abstract
We theoretically study the elliptically polarized high-order harmonic generation from N-CO mixed gases. Our simulations show that the polarization of HHG is highly sensitive to both the mixing ratio and molecular alignment angle. In particular, even a small addition of CO gas results in a significant enhancement of harmonic ellipticity compared to pure N gas. Under a proper mixing ratio and molecular alignment angle, a large ellipticity of HHG is observed, which is larger than that in reported N-Ar mixture. Furthermore, when considering the molecular alignment effect, the dependence of ellipticity of HHG on mixing ratio exhibits slight variations. These findings pave the way for generating elliptically polarized extreme ultraviolet pulses.

Optics Communications invites original and timely contributions containing new results in various fields of optics and photonics. The journal considers theoretical and experimental research in areas ranging from the fundamental properties of light to technological applications. Topics covered include classical and quantum optics, optical physics and light-matter interactions, lasers, imaging, guided-wave optics and optical information processing. Manuscripts should offer clear evidence of novelty and significance. Papers concentrating on mathematical and computational issues, with limited connection to optics, are not suitable for publication in the Journal. Similarly, small technical advances, or papers concerned only with engineering applications or issues of materials science fall outside the journal scope.
