Controlling functional homeostasis of ileal resident macrophages by vitamin B12 during steady state and Salmonella infection in mice

On the contrary, depletion of iMacs by inhibiting CSF1R signaling significantly increased host susceptibility to STm and prevented VB12-mediated pathogen reduction. Abstract

Dietary micronutrients, particularly vitamin B12 (VB12), profoundly influence the physiological maintenance and function of intestinal cells. However, it is still unclear whether VB12 modulates the transcriptional and metabolic programming of ileal macrophages (iMacs), thereby contributing to intestinal homeostasis.
