Abstract

Two structurally intricate heterometallic clusters with cores featuring multiple Platonic and Archimedean polyhedra were synthesized by ligand-controlled co-hydrolysis of Ni2+ and Dy3+ ions, as reported by Zhiping Zheng et al. in their Research Article (e202409109). Adjusting the amount of hydrolysis-promoting base and the reaction temperature and duration afforded selectively the kinetic and thermodynamic species, respectively with a Dy112Ni76 and a Dy52Ni44 core.
