Abstract
During embryogenesis, the testes and ovaries form caudally to the kidneys. In males, the testes descend into the intrauterine scrotal sac. The absence of two testes in the scrotal sac after six months of age may indicate conditions such as testicular agenesis or cryptorchidism. In felines, cryptorchidism is rare (1-8%) compared to dogs (7-9%). Diagnosis involves anamnesis, palpation and abdominal ultrasonography, which is crucial in locating the testicle and planning for surgery. This case report describes a one-year-old male cat with unilateral abdominal cryptorchidism, which was successfully resolved through exploratory laparotomy and orchiectomy. The case highlights the importance of ultrasonography for the diagnosis and treatment of this condition.
