Water mites collected from oxbow lakes in the Prater area (Vienna) in 1932/1933, with the redescription of Hydryphantes dispar (v. Schaub, 1988)

Abstract

A survey is given on the taxonomic composition of a previously unstudied water mite collection from oxbow waters in the Prater area (Vienna). Among the 25 species recorded, two are first records for the Fauna Austriaca, and a further 10 for the Federal State Niederösterreich. A redescription and neotype designation is given for Hydryphantes dispar v. Schaub, 1888. The curious observation of a water mite larva parasitizing the deutonymph of another water mites species is reported.
