It is categorized into four main molecular subtypes. Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (UBE2C) is essential for the ubiquitin–proteasome system which regulates checkpoints in the cell cycle. Dysregulation of ubiquitination has been associated with different types of cancer. P53 is important tumor suppressor gene. In some cancers mutant p53 proteins not only lose tumor suppressive functions, but also acquire oncogenic activity.
