Abstract
Objective: Aiming to evaluate the impact of pest management practices and different cultivation systems, the objective of this work was to evaluate the quality of Anticarsia gemmatalis eggs, fed with resistant or susceptible soybean leaves, on the Trichogramma atopovirilia fertility life table.
Method: A. gemmatalis eggs from resistant and susceptible soybean leaves were offered daily for parasitism by T. atopovirilia, in addition to an artificial diet until the death of the parasitoids. The average time of a generation (T), the net reproduction rate (Ro), the intrinsic rate of population growth (rm), the finite rate of population growth (λ) and the time required for the parasitoid population were evaluated. double the number of individuals (DT).
Results and Discussion: The life table was not affected by the food substrates used. The reproduction and development of T. atopovirilia in A. gemmatalis indicates
Research Implications: In soybean cultivation, one of the main methods of managing insect pests is synthetic chemical insecticides. A sustainable management alternative is the use of natural enemies of pests. However, to compose integrated management programs it is important to know the behavior of the pest and the natural enemy, verifying their potential.
Originality/Value: This research contributes to the knowledge of the behavior of the predator T. atopovirilia on A. gemmatalis in soybean crops with resistant varieties, indicating the possible use of this organism to form part of the integrated pest management program in the aforementioned crop, promoting more sustainable agriculture.
