HALITOSIS IN CHILDREN- A REVIEW

Abstract

Halitosis is a bad breath emanating from the oral cavity and may be due to oral or non-oral sources. It is one of the important factors in social communication; hence the origin of concern not only for a possible health condition but also for frequent psychological alterations leading to social and personal isolation. Halitosis is common in children and occurs due to many reasons like allergies, cold, chronic sinusitis, dietary pattern, large tonsils, dental caries, periodontal disease, poor oral hygiene. This article provides a review about aetiologic classification, diagnosis and management of halitosis along with a series of recommendations which will help in elimination of bad breath in children.
