Abstract

Workplace health promotion programs are being rolled out more frequently by administration to improve wellness, reduce turnover, decrease costs associated with health insurance premiums and absentee days, and reduce socioeconomic health inequalities in the workforce. There is a particular need for new approaches to improve the health and reduce sickness absence among employees from lower socioeconomic groups. In this paper, we report the results of our pilot study to determine adherence and explore the relationship between a resistance training program and health-related markers, professional quality of life, and motivation to continue using a 12-week program led by certified personal trainer.
