Abstract
Discovery of new sources for therapeutic enzymes has much attention in medicine. Although bacterial-derived L-asparaginase is present in the market, studies demonstrated that asparaginase from actinomycetes might be more effective and have fewer side effects. The current study emphasizes the production of asparaginase enzyme from actinomycetes isolated from the Chikmagalur forest, Karnataka, India can be exploited as a possible source for significant production of this enzyme. The physical and chemical parameters were monitored, and maximum yield was obtained at pH 8, temperature at 30oC in the presence of carbon source(glucose) & nitrogen source(peptone). L-asparaginase, an enzyme with clinical & industrial applications, is a potent molecule with anticancer and antioxidant properties.
