Effective management strategies can be implemented through a multidisciplinary approach, including collaboration among neurologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals. These may include dose adjustments, medication discontinuation, and adjunctive therapies such as diaphragmatic breathing exercises or acupuncture. Additionally, close monitoring for adverse effects and timely intervention are essential to mitigate the impact of hiccups on patient well-being. Essentially, carbamazepine-induced hiccups represent a clinically relevant phenomenon that warrants attention in the management of epilepsy.
