Apple (Apple Inc., Cupertino, CA, USA) was the most used platform, followed by Android (Google LLC, Mountain View, CA, USA). Seventy-five percent of patients have previously used social media to research information, with YouTube (YouTube, San Mateo, CA, USA) being the most popular site. Only 3% of patients knew that applications were available to aid with orthodontic therapy and 12 patients had utilized an app linked to orthodontics. Nevertheless, 88% of patients said they would be open to using an app to supplement their treatment.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Although 88% of patients said they would be prepared to use an app to help with orthodontic treatment, there is currently a low level of knowledge of the existence of apps.
