The organs were cold stored for 18 h, flushed with 20 ml of saline, kept at room temperature for 20 min, and reperfused at 37 °C with oxygenated Williams E solution. Increasing shortage of donor organs leads to the acceptance of less than optimal grafts for transplantation, up to and including organs donated after circulatory standstill of the donor.
