TRADISI UPACARA PERNIKAHAN TIONGHOA DI MALANG

Abstract

: Marriage is a joyful occasion for everyone, usually marked by a wedding ceremony to commemorate this sacred moment. The wedding ceremony itself holds different traditions in each celebration, influenced by religious, cultural, and societal norms. This also applies to the Chinese descendants residing in Indonesia. The weddings they organize have distinct traditions compared to wedding ceremonies in China. These differences are explored and explained in this research. The focus of this study is on the wedding traditions of the Chinese community in Malang. It is a qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collection was obtained through interviews with Chinese descendants living in Malang. The research findings indicate that the Chinese wedding traditions in Malang have undergone cultural acculturation. Differences in traditions have been identified in various aspects, including religion, environment, and customs.
