Abstract
The aim of the study is to identify the nature of the MUSIC concept representation and the differences in its structure in the linguistic consciousness and the linguistic worldview of modern youth representatives belonging to different professional groups. The paper considers the associative field of MUSIC, obtained during an associative psycholinguistic experiment, as a result of explication of the concept in the linguistic worldview of students from the philology, mathematics faculties, the faculty of music and the faculty of physical education. The scientific novelty lies in finding a correlation between the structure of the concept, its representation in the linguistic worldview and the professional affiliation of the informants. As a result, the general structure of the concept has been revealed, with its nucleus consisting of the subfields “Terminology”, “Musical instruments”, “Person” and “Perception of music”. Differences in representation in the linguistic worldview reflecting the linguistic consciousness of the respondents have been noted: a detailed system of fields and connections among students of the philology faculty, the anthropocentric nature of the field structure among students of the faculty of music, the perception of music as a specific kind of human activity among students of the mathematics faculty and students of the faculty of physical education.
