In this paper, we consider design procedure of broadband passive filters with flat frequency characteristics.   METHODS. A general method for optimally design the arbitrary order broadband passive filters (BBF) is considered. The base structure of BBF has the form of resistively loaded reactive two-port. Conditions of low fundamental frequency loss and required filer selectivity have been determined. The BBF design procedure minimizes the grid total current distortion and takes into account the power system performance.   RESULTS. New broadband passive filter scheme are proposed. Compensating performances of different BBF configurations are discussed. Abstract
