Abstract
Leiomyoma is considered a benign tumor derived from smooth muscle tissue, also known as a fibroid tumor. Despite being a common neoplasm, its presence in the areola-nipple complex is infrequent, with even more rarity in the male, so, we present the case of a 59-year-old man with left mastodynia clinic in which a left retro areolar induration is palpated towards the internal quadrant with minimal left retro areolar glandular development in the mammogram performed.
Surgical removal of the indurated nodule attached to the left nipple is carried out including the entire nipple with pathological diagnostic compatible with leiomyoma.
Usually, these tumors are small (between 0.2 and 1.8 cm) and well circumscribed whose location is almost always sub areolar, in relation to the muscles that surround the galactophore ducts. The diagnostic of this type of lesion is always histological after its excision, there being no clinical or radiological criteria that allow to characterize them with certainty.
