Due to the loss of meaning in the learning process, the government issued a limited face-to-face learning process policy during the new normal period. However, learning difficulties, especially for teachers, still occur at this time. The purpose of this study was to find out what difficulties teachers experienced in thematic learning during the new normal period and the efforts made by teachers to overcome these difficulties at Mi Al-Muhajirin, North Jakarta. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were class II teachers and school principals at MI Al-Muhajirin, North Jakarta. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Based on the results of the study it was found that class II teachers at MI Al-Muhajirin North Jakarta experienced difficulties in thematic learning during the new normal period, these difficulties were in the form of teacher difficulties in: 1) using various learning methods, 2) combining themes between lesson content, 3) using concrete learning strategies, 4) conditioning the class, 5) conducting authentic assessments, 6) providing learning media, and 7) allocating a short amount of time. Efforts that the teacher always makes to overcome these difficulties are by: 1) using the lecture learning method so that learning continues, 2) honing his skills to relate subject matter to student environmental conditions, 3) using simple learning strategies, 4) creating various kinds of entertainment , 5) carry out assessments as usual, 6) use simple learning media if media is needed, and 7) summarize the lesson content.
