Studi kasus dalam penelitian ini terhadap mahasiswa STIT Ibnu Khaldun Nunukan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus (case study) dan bersifat deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan melalui wawancara, angket, dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan dalam hal penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan pertimbangan tertentu sesuai dengan kebutuhan (purposive sampling) dan data dianalisa secara induktif. Adapun hasil dari penelian ini yakni: Pertama, pembelajaran ilmu kalam/teologi Islam memberikan signifikasni terhadap dasar pandangan bagi setiap mahasiswa terkait konsep dasar ber-Islam seperti Tuhan, wahyu dan kenabian, agama, dan manusia. Kedua, beberapa permasalahan yang dihadapi mahasiswa terkait dengan latar belakang pendidikan pada jenjang sebelumnya, kurikulum dan pemahaman. Ketiga, pemahaman terhadap ilmu kalam harus komprehensif, memperhatikan keadaan di masyarakat dengan mengambil pemikiran yang teruji, yakni paham ahlu sunnah wal jamaah yang merupakan ajaran moderat sehingga akan membentuk pola pikir, karakter, dan perilaku mahasiswa yang benar dan baik. \nThis research aims to determine the situation of students in receiving natural science courses related to the challenges and their influence on the science being studied. The case study in this research is about STIT Ibnu Khaldun Nunukan students. The research method used in this research is a qualitative approach with a case study type of research and is descriptive in nature. Data collection techniques used were interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Meanwhile, the determination of the sample was carried out with certain considerations according to needs (purposive sampling) and the data was analyzed inductively. The results of this research are: First, learning kalam science/Islamic theology provides significance in the basic views for each student regarding basic Islamic concepts such as God, revelation and prophecy, religion, and humans. Second, several problems faced by students are related to educational background at previous levels, curriculum and understanding. Abstract
