The Effect of the Social Environment on Juvenile Delinquency in Emirati Society: A Field Study

Abstract

The surrounding social environment in which individuals grow up contributes significantly to the formation of their behavior and relationships with others, so individuals learn different types of behavior through the socialization institutions available in the surrounding social environment. This study examines the impact of the social environment on juvenile delinquency. Using the descriptive approach, questionnaire questions were distributed to a sample of 45 cases. The results showed a strong negative relationship between family upbringing and juvenile delinquency, as the means of individuals’ answers to all items ranged from 3 to 4.30. Family neglect also causes children to resort to bad friends and learn deviance. Additionally, series and films in the media significantly lead to learning about violence and crime.
