THE ORGANIZATION OF DECONTAMINATION FOR PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED IN INCIDENTS INVOLVING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

Abstract

Contemporary civilization is invariably accompanied by disasters, industrial accidents, infectiousdiseases and increasingly frequent terrorist attacks. Despite the use of ever more sophisticatedsafeguards accompanying the development of civilization and modern branches of the economy,these phenomena will inevitably keep occurring. The possibility of sudden unforeseen incidentscaused by the impact of chemical, biological, or radiological factors requires constant readiness ofunits of the State Fire Service. The work analyses the decontamination process used in Germany,North America and Poland. This enabled the development of proposals for organizing thedecontamination process applied to personal protective equipment, constituting a combinationof selected solutions, which allows for the implementation of systemic changes in the State FireService.
