The Path of Transformation of the Energy Economy under the “Double Carbon” Objective during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period

Abstract

Exploring the path to transforming the energy economy is directly relevant to achieving the double carbon goal, as the energy sector is a major source of carbon emissions. Studying this problem during the 14th Five-Year Plan period is particularly important, as the inclusion of this goal in the official plans of the state can stimulate the implementation of specific measures and programs to transform the country’s energy economy, which is essential for combating climate change and achieving sustainable development. The article delves into the peculiarities of the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan in the context of China's transition to an innovative energy economy. In the course of the study the interrelation between the goals of “double carbon” and sustain-able development of the country’s economy is outlined. Particular attention is paid to the problems of imple-menting “green initiatives”. Recommendations aimed at stimulating the achievement of the goals of the 14th Five-Year Plan in the field of combating climate change and improving the energy efficiency of China’s econ-omy are also formulated.
