Abstract

The study of iron nanoparticles is one of the most researched areas in recent times due to the potential applications they have and because the study of iron by XPS is one of the most debated elements. In this work, we provide investigation data of iron oxide nanoparticles produced using the laser ablation technique, which were characterized using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Survey spectra, C 1s, O 1s, and Fe 2p core levels spectra were acquired. Results showed the presence of Fe+3 and Fe+2 elements that constitute hematite and magnetite with differences in their concentrations depending on the fitting method. In addition, the presence of adventitious carbon and carbon from impurities was detected.
