Abstract
The report describes the care of an equine at the Veterinary Clinics Hospital of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). The diagnosis of verminotic colic was performed by anamnesis, clinical signs, blood tests, feces and the Graham method. Blood analysis showed eosinophilia (2223/µl). Stool parasitological examination detected Strongyloidea and Oxyuris equi eggs. Graham’s method and coproculture showed eggs of Oxyuris equi and the presence of infecting larvae (L3) of Strongylus edentatus, Strongylus vulgaris, Trichonema spp. and Gyalocephalus spp. respectively. The patient received drug therapy, responded to treatment and was discharged after six days.
