Abstract

The objective of this work was to test different methods to overcome dormancy in seeds of Myracrodruon urundeuva, a species of economic and environmental interest. Seven treatments were tested, plus the control. The parameters analyzed were the percentage and speed of germination and the statistical analysis adopted the completely randomized design and the Tukey test (5%). Conclusions: 1) chemical scarification compared to mechanical scarification is a good option to speed up seed germination; 2) seed immersion was not interesting in breaking dormancy and 3) sulfuric acid and washing in running water (2 hs), for germination speed, are statistically superior to the control.
