Involvement of students in the restoration of church architecture monuments in the Russian North in the 1960s – 1980s

Abstract

Student construction and restoration teams appeared in the USSR as a result of a social movement in defense of historical and cultural monuments. A significant part of these detachments worked on monuments of church architecture, which contributed to the formation of a positive image of religious buildings in the public consciousness of young people and contradicted atheistic education. However, Komsomol leaders and cultural figures were able to form an idea of the patriotic activities of the detachments and their important role in preserving the history of the country.
