The results showed significantly increased MDA, total cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose levels in the diabetic group compared to controls. In contrast, GSH and HDL levels were significantly lower in diabetics. In the type 2 diabetes patient group, a correlation between glucose levels and MDA concentration was observed, while no other significant associations were found between lipid profile parameters, glucose levels and MDA or GSH levels. Studies show the complex connection between diabetes and the increase in free radicals and the corresponding decrease in antioxidant synthesis.
