Features of the Legal Text in English Discourse: Problems of Interpretation and Translatability

Abstract

The consistent difference in the laws of various states, as well as the basic features typical of Russian and English legal discourse should be taken into account when dealing with legal texts. In order to determine the basic features typical for the English legal vocabulary and establish a methodology for solving the problems occurring when translating legal texts, the authors implement the methods ofsyntactic, vocabulary, similarity and comparative analysis. The findings indicate that the difference between the Russian and English legal lexemes is conditioned by both linguistic and extra-linguistic factors.
