The preceptor is essential in the formation of nurses, is a model and guide in the processes of approximation to the professional work, facilitates learning and is a link between theory and practice. The manuscript describes the competences of the nursing preceptor for the training of students who promote respectful care in health care.</p></div><div><h3>Material and method</h3><p>Qualitative descriptive study with focal groups with nursing preceptor. Abstract
