Abstract
In today’s digital era, phubbing behavior (ignoring others in social interactions by being busy using a mobile phone) is becoming an increasingly common phenomenon among students. However, the impact of this behavior on students’ psychological well-being is still not well understood. This study aims to gain a deeper understanding of phubbing behavior among students and its implications in a multicultural context. The focus of this study is to explore how phubbing behavior affects students’ social interactions across various cultural backgrounds. This study uses a literature review approach, where various relevant scientific literature sources are collected and analyzed to gain a better understanding of this topic. The results of the study indicate that phubbing behavior can have negative impacts on students’ psychological well-being, including a decrease in the quality of interpersonal relationships and an increase in feelings of loneliness. In addition, these findings also indicate that the impact of phubbing behavior can vary among students from different cultural backgrounds. This study indicates the need for a multicultural counseling approach in addressing the issue of phubbing among students. Further research is needed to develop effective intervention strategies that take into account cultural differences
