The studies included had weaknesses in the design and in the samples used, thus limiting the comparison and extrapolation of the results. In the analysis of the studies, the following three topics were identified: teaching description; perception of the methodology used; and assessment of the learning.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>Developing knowledge, skills and attitudes for the care of people suffering from stroke is an essential aspect of the training of future nurses. However, in the literature reviewed there is a void of evidence in regard to this subject. Abstract

Objective

To review the information available on teaching and learning methods for undergraduate nursing students about caring for stroke patients.

Methods

A search was conducted in MEDLINE (PubMed), Web of Science (WOS), EMBASE (through OvidSP), CINAHL (through EBSCO Publishing) and Índice Bibliográfico Español (Spanish Health Science Database, IBECS). The search was limited to publications in English and Spanish from the launch of the databases until March 2018. This review included primary empirical studies, studies focused on pre-registration nursing students and studies reporting findings on teaching and learning about the care of the stroke patient.

Results
