Abstract

A increasing alveolar bone loss and typical root surface caries were reproduced after defined co-inoculation of germfree Wistar rats with S. mutans and A. viscosus. The gnotobiotic rats were re-conventionalized and performed a gingivectomy on the right upper jaw at the beginning of the 12 week experiment.
