Description of a new species of Fannia (Diptera: Fanniidae) from the Argentinean Patagonia

Abstract

A new species of the genus Fannia (Diptera: Fanniidae) is described, Fannia adelaidae sp. nov. This new species was collected in the Patagonian region in the province of Neuquén, within the Lanín National Park using baited traps. Photographs of diagnostic characters are provided for both sexes. Its possible phylogenetic relationship with other species of the same region is discussed.
